ALBULA  4.0.1
Main Bar

File

  • New Window: Add new subframe
  • Open: Open new image from file
  • Export: Save current image section to file. Possible file formats are e.g. jpg, png or tiff.

Auto Load

ALBULA has three auto load modi (Watch Series and Movie as well as EIGER Monitor), which are switched on and off by pressing the appropriate buttons in the Auto Load menu. The Movie mode may also be interrupted and continued by clicking on the button

continue.png

in the Subwindow Task Bar .

  • Watch Series
    Watch permanently the current series and load the last image of the current series.
  • Movie
    Successively load all images of the current series at a frequency of 5Hz.
  • EIGER Monitor
    Connects to the monitor interface of the EIGER API and displays the data of the current measurement. Pressing the arrow right to the "EIGER Monitor" button opens a menu that lets you set the host and port of the EIGER detector computer as well as the minimum pause time between successive images.

For single image files in one directory that follow the name pattern <file body>< file number>.<suffix> all files sharing <file body> and <suffix> belong to the same series. For container image files (.h5) all datasets in that file belong to the same series.
Caveat: Files must arrive atomically at the observed directory. Otherwise ALBULA behaves in an undefined way in "Auto Load" mode. This may be an issue for large hdf5 data files where copying takes many CPU cycles. It is strongly recommended to copy new files to temporary files and move the temporary files to the final destination.

Where has the slave mode gone?

ALBULA 2.0 comes with an Python API rendering the slave mode obsolete. On Linux systems the slave mode may be emulated by the Python script below. If you need the slave mode for operation systems other than Linux please contact suppo.nosp@m.rt@d.nosp@m.ectri.nosp@m.s.co.nosp@m.m.

import re
import sys
import time
sys.path.insert(0,"/usr/local/dectris/python/")
subWin = mainWin.openSubFrame()
linePattern = re.compile(r"\s*([0-9]+)\s+(\S*)")
fileNumber = None
while 1:
try:
with open("/tmp/albula.stat") as f:
line = f.readline()
m = linePattern.match(line)
if m:
newFileNumber = m.group(1)
fileName = m.group(2)
if not fileNumber or newFileNumber > fileNumber:
fileNumber = newFileNumber
subWin.loadFile(fileName)
except IOError:
time.sleep(1)
# mainWin or subWin has been closed by the user
time.sleep(0.1)
try:
subWin = mainWin.openSubFrame()
# mainWin has been closed by the user
subWin = mainWin.openSubFrame()
time.sleep(0.2)

The script above regularly stats the file /tmp/albula.stat. You may create and regulary update /tmp/albula.stat via the command line:

## Create /tmp/albula.stat via the command line
i=0;
while [ $i -lt 720 ]; do
sleep 0.1;
echo "$i /path/to/imageDir/image_$(printf "%05d" $i).cbf" > /tmp/albula.stat;
i=$[i+1];
done

Synchronize

When two or more images of the same series are opened at the same time the following settings of those images may be synchronized:

  • Viewport
    Synchronize the visible region of the image, i.e. when one image is moved or zoomed the other images are moved and zoomed in the same way.
  • Contrast
    The fore- and background and color mode settings (Histogram ) are synchronized.
  • Statistics
    The statistic tools (Statistics ) e.g. line plots or peaks are synchronized.
